Indian Airlines or Indian is India's state owned airlines under the federal Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. Its main bases are the international airports in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata anf New Delhi. The company was rebranded as Indian for advertising purpose on December 2005 as a part of a program to revamp the company image in preparation for an IPO. The airline operates closely with Air India, the national flag carrier of India.
The average Indian fleet age is 15.8 years old as on 2006. Indian has recently ordered 43 Airbus jets comprising of:

The airlines operate direct as well as connecting flights to Cochin. The Indian also has a good number of international fleets that include different countries of South East Asia, South Asia, West Asia and Oceania. Cochin International Airport also receives a number of international flights from Muscat, Colombo, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and a variety of other places.
