Mahan air was founded in1993 in Kerman, Iran. Its main base is Mehrabad International Airport, Tehran. Mahan air operates scheduled domestic services and international flights to Europe and the Far East. Pilgrim services from Kerman to Syria, as well as cargo and passenger charters to Russia and the Middle East. Mahan air has its main hub at the Imam Khomeini International Airport. The parent company of Mahan air is the Iran Nationalist Airlines Corporation. The headquarter of Mahan air is situated at Tehran, Iran. Mahan air have come a long way from their humble origin as a small domestic airline. Mahan air was incorporated in 1992 as the first private airline in Iran. At the initial operational stage in May 1993, Mahan air had modest fleet comprising two Tupolove 154 aircraft, a staff of 99 and a route network from Tehran to 2 domestic destinations. It was the addition of Airbus A300 wide-body equipment to the fleet in 1999 and the A310 in 2001 that picked up the real growth of Mahan air. The potential and the ambition of the Mahan air is boundless.

Mahan air currently has a route network which spans 21 destinations in 10 countries and they have a modern fleet of 11 all Airbus aircraft and have 1400 employees. Mahan air is a member of International Air Transport Association (IATA).Mahan air is setting standard that few can meet like Mahan air is the only airline in Iran that the crew uses neckties because it is private owned. Mahan air sponsored Persepolis FC in the Iran Premier League (2005-2006). Currently Tehran-Casablanca route is in the pipeline. Mehrabad International Airport and the Bandar Abbas International Airport are the two major secondary hub of Mahan air. Mahan air will fly non-stop from Tehran to Dammam and Bahrain. The Dammam service will operate 4 times per week while Bahrain service will operate 3 times per weekly more. With convenient schedule, the flights of Mahan air from Bahrain and Dammam will easily connect to the Indian capital as well as Lahore and Bangkok. The flights will be operating via A320 aircraft.
