Singapore Airlines, abbreviated as SIA is the national airlines of Singapore. It operates a hub at Singapore Changi Airport and has a presence in the airline markets of Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia and the competitve “kangaroo route” between Europe and Oceania. The company also operates trans-Pacific flights, including two of the world's longest non-stop commercial flights from Singapore to Newark, New Jersey and Los Angeles, California.
Singapore Airlines has an extensive code share agreement with different airlines for different countries. Some of them are given below:
- Air Canada Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver
- Air New Zealand Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth
- Air India Hyderabad and Bangalore
- EgyptAir Cairo
- Lufthansa Frankfurt, Munich, Bremen, Hamburg and Cologne
The destinations of Singapore Airlines include different countries of Africa, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. KrisFlyer is the frequent flyer program of Singapore Airlines and its subsidiary SilkAir. It has six levels of membership consisting of three KrisFlyer levels and three PPS Club levels.
Singapore Airlines announced a major upgrade to its cabin and in-flight service in 2006. Following are the class division of the airlines:
- First Class: These first class seats have a configuration of 2-2-2 and are used mainly on regional flights. In seat power supply is available on every First Class seat. The new first class seats have 35 inch wide seat with leather and Mahogony wood finishing.
- Business Class has 2-3-2 seating layout. This variation is mainly on regional flights. The seat is 27 inch wide and is 6 foot 6 inch long with a larger space given for sleeping and work.
- Executive Economy Class is only offered on Airbus A340-500 aircraft and replaces the standard economy class cabins. These seats are available only on non-stop flights to Newark and Los Angeles and on selected flights to Jakarta.
- Economy Class seats have PTVs on every seat offering KrisWorld, the airline's inflight entertainment system.
